Drotaverine is relieves pain due to smooth muscle spasm like menstrual pain, kidney stone pain and pain due to biliary stone. It is used for menstrual pain and abdominal pain. It is mainly used to relieve painful spasms associated with chronic gastroduodenitis, disorder of the intestines that leads to cramps in the abdomen, gastric and duodenal ulcers and many more conditions of the stomach and intestine that are associated with painful spasm.

Side Effects may occur from Drotaverine:

Some reactions for Drotaverine Dry Mouth, Dizziness, Nausea and vomiting, Head Pain, Skin Allergy, breathing problem, pulse rate changes, swelling of lips, face tongue, hands and feet and blood pressure. Inform to doctor if you notice any of these reactions or any history of blood pressure, kidney, liver or heart disease.

Doses of Drotaverine:

Generally for age group of 1 to 5 years 20 mg daily 3-4 times. And for 6 to 12 years 40 mg daily three times or maximum dose 80 mg/dose can take.

What to do If Overdose?

If an overdose with this medicine is suspected contact urgently doctor or pharmacist. Overdose symptoms like vomiting, nausea, stomach problem, increased heart rates and blood pressure.

Precautions for Drotaverine:

Awareness should be used in patients with heart, liver, kidney disease and also during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Complete the full course of this medicine treatment.

How to take Drotaverine:

Drotaverine comes as a tablet to take by mouth with or without food.
